In cooperation with a Hollywood set manufacturer, an actual large airplane was airlifted from the United States, and the set was made using the body and parts of the airplane. Director Han Jae-rim said, “We focused on realism. I made it so that the audience did not feel that 'the plane was fake' while watching the movie, and I used a gimbal to shoot with movement.

The production team of <Declaration of Emergency> completed a gimbal that would rotate the airplane set 360 degrees and put it into filming. It is not only the first case of filming while rotating a real-size aircraft set with a rolling gimbal made with a diameter of 7m and a length of 12m, but also a unique production that is hard to find in foreign countries. The production team went through a total production period of about 60 days, excluding the drawing work, as the airplane set rotates 360 degrees and calculates the changing load. Art director Lee Mok-won, who worked on the KTX set for <Train to Busan> and then produced the airplane set for <Declaration of Emergency>, said, “There were a lot of parts and the process was complicated. In addition to the general gimbal, the rigidity of the set was also important because a lot of shooting equipment such as a rolling gimbal, 6-axis motion base gimbal, and air bounce had to be used. Every little part was taken care of, and safety tests were completed after all parts were assembled. I thought it was safe to say that it was not excessive, so I checked it more thoroughly until the end.”

In addition, a more realistic set was completed through the details reinforced by inviting the current aircraft captain as an expert advisor. Song Seok-ho, the current pilot of T'way's airline, said, "The plane that is set in this movie is a Boeing 777. Among them, some devices were added as advice to express the fact that the aircraft has been used for more than 30 years.” Captain Song Seok-ho said, “In order to express the initial model, the electric power of the captain and first officer was changed manually. In addition, as the limited space of an aircraft was used as one of the main backgrounds, the exterior of the aircraft was realized with an LED screen to maximize the realism. An LED screen was installed outside the cockpit window, and the actual outside scenery was expressed in pre-CG work and VFX, so that the LED screen that the actual VFX is transmitted to when the actors are performing is captured in the camera. CG manager Hong Jeong-ho said, “We measured the size of the gimbal as well as how much the movement of the gimbal had an effect, and designed and installed an LED screen suitable for it. We discussed with the cinematographer and lighting director how to prepare the videos from the LED screen. Not only did we consider details such as brightness, but we also worked delicately on the images to be sent to the LED screen through DI.”
